On March 4, 14 interns from 7 different African countries came to Kosaka
to attend the Africa Area Focused Training Course on Geological Mapping
and Mineral Information Management. On the morning of the 5th, Mayor Kawaguchi
and other town officials will hold a courtesy call to meet the interns.
Then, that night the members of KIS and MINETEC will hold a welcome party
at the Seidokan restaurant. The interns are all wonderful people, and it
is a shame that their stay will only be for two weeks. |

Since the interns will be in Kosaka for only 2 weeks, the Doll Festival
will be the only event that they can attend. But, this event is really
4 events in 1. First, for anyone who wishes, there will be a kimono fitting,
then the interns will be able to decorate the doll platform with the help
of the townspeople. Next there will be a tea ceremony, and finally the
everyone will be taught how to create an origami crane and samurai helmet.
This a rare chance to experience four traditional aspects of Japanese culture. |

On the morning of March 15, the Mayor, along with other people from the
town, bade farewell to the JICA interns. Their stay was short, which unfortunately
meant that there were few chances to get to know them. But, it was thanks
to the people of Kosaka that allowed the interns to enjoy their stay and
have it become a valuable experience. |
