Acacia Festival Touch Rugby Competition

I participated in the Touch Rugby Competition

Kosaka High School Environment Technology 3rd year HANDA Kenji

On the 12th of June, I participated in the Touch Rugby Competition.  It was a beautiful sunny day.  The rules were a little different than what I was used to but I enjoyed it all the same.

At the practises that we had last month, the field was much wider so I was able to score tries by running down the sideline.  However, the field that we played on in the competition was smaller than I though so I got quite irritated. We got beaten in the first game before I could even get used to the field.  But I think I slowly got the hang of it.

As I was in two different teams, I was lucky enough to play in the second game of the team which made it to the finals.  The opposition team was the team that we had originally lost against.  So I went into the match wanting to take revenge against them but we lost once again.  But I was satisfied that I did by best.

Junior high school students also played in this competition so I am very pleased as a rugby player that they have an interest in rugby.  I would like these type of things to continue to get more people interested in rugby.
