KIS General Meeting and Party
Date: Saturday 4th April 2003
General Meeting: 6pm to 7pm
Party: 7pm to 8pm
Place: Sepamu Hall |
We would like as many members to participate as possible. We have prepared a lot of delicious food for the party afterwards. Anyone who is thinking of joining KIS is more than welcome to come along. Invite your friends, family and even your boss and come along. Entry is free.
After the meeting, there will be a lot of food and drink and fun games for your enjoyment. Rowan and Youta have organised various activities. See you all there.

Cricket Competition

Place: Kosaka Baseball Field
Teams: Six people per team (individuals can participate as well)
Participation Fee: 100 yen per person (for health insurance)
Charity Bazaar and Flea Market
Date: Sunday 8th June
Time: 10am to 2pm
Place: Kosaka Mine Office
(in case of rain it will be held at Kosaka Elementary School)

Cricket Competition
How about giving Cricket, the most popular sport in the world, a go at
the Acacia Festival in Kosaka. The rules will be explained on the day.

Charity Bazaar and Flea Market
There are many people around the world that need your help. KIS will be sending all the money from the Charity Bazaar and the donation from the Flea Market Stalls to UNICEF. We ask you for your co-operation.

he parents of Rowan, Kosaka's current CIR, will once again be coming to Kosaka from New Zealand.
The Kosaka International Society and the Town Office will jointly hold a welcome party for them. Please come along and bring your friends and family. We would love to see you there.

Hola! Hello everyone. How about learning some Spanish. The Kosaka International
Society is starting Spanish lessons from the 5th of July. Many of the JICA
participants are from Spanish speaking countries so this is a perfect opportunity
to learn a few Spanish words.
It is going to be a lot of fun. @Mr. Morita is bringing along his guitar
so come along to add some Spanish songs to your karaoke repertoire.

Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Students Home Stay Programme
Period:Monday 28th July to Sunday 10 August(14 days 13 nights)
During this period, each host family will be for 1 to 2 weeks long
During the day (9am to 5pm), they will be studying in the town

Three students who are studying Japanese for one year at Tokyo University
of Foreign Studies Japanese Centre before entering a Japanese University
are going to be coming to Kosaka during their summer vacation. During their
stay, they will be placed in home stays so they can experience Japanese
life, culture and spoken Japanese. We are now looking for home stay volunteers
for the students. If you are interested, please get in contact with us.
Thank you.
Support Money: KIS will pay each home stay 1000 yen per day (for breakfast,
lunch, weekend activities)

JICA Participants Programme
This years JICA participants will once again be arriving in mid August.
During their three month stay,
KIS will hold many events for them. Everyone is more than welcome to come
along and join in.

During this period you and your friends also have the chance to be a host
friend. A host friend or family is appointed to each participant. They
spend time with the participants in the weekends and do fun stuff
together like drives, picnics, dinner etc.
If you think you would like to become a host, please get in contact with
us here at KIS.
These letters that the JICA participants continue to write shows just how
much of a good time they have in Kosaka. Lets keep it that way.

WINE FESTIVAL
Date: September 21st Place: Central Park

Unfortunally, due to a research trip, the JICA participants will not be
able to join us this year at the Wine Festival.
However, the Kosaka International Society still plans to put up a tent
and fry a few snarlers on the ol' barbie. So come along and have a yarn
with the crew over a couple of Kosaka's tasty bottles of wine.

Cricket is a very popular sport worldwide and has become a favourite at the Acacia Festival which is held every June in Kosaka Town.
The rules of cricket are quite different to baseball but very easy to pick up and even beginners can have a lot of fun playing.
In case of rain the game will be played in the Sepamu Gym.

Mr Tadokoro who has worked in Brazil a total of 7 years 7 months and also
worked for two years at the Technology Research Centre Metal Mining Agency
of Japan in Kosaka.
Mr Kano is an old KIS member who has worked in China a total of 6 years
9 months. They will both come and talk about their experiences working
in a foreign country. There will be some Chinese and Brazilan alcohol there
for you to try.

Halloween Party

On the 1st of November(SAT) from 6pm to 8pm at Sepamu, the Kosaka International
Society will held a Halloween Party for the children of Kosaka.
There will be a costume contest and gemes and some snacks. Adults are also
more than welcome. Don't forget your costume. See you there.
