Jazz concert in celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the International Society

Acacia Festival Street hockey Tournament and Flea Market

When: Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th
Where: Kokusai Hiroba (between the Korakukan and the Mine Office)

Fee: 500 yen per team (sports insurance)
We are looking for participants and beginners are more than welcome! Why not try to gather up your friends and make a team? (e7 people or more is best).
If you prefer to come alone, you can join the KIS team!

Sunday, June 10th Flea Market and Rikshaw charity events
Where: Kokusai Hiroba
When: 10:00AM -1:00PM
This event is part of our efforts to raise money for international aid. Please bring any unwanted items and try to sell them at our charity bazaar.
We only ask that you donate %10 of your profits to charity. Also, in celebration of the reopening of Kosaka Mine Office, we will be selling rides on the Rickshaw; all proceeds will go to charity.

Homestay for students studying at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies

When: July 23rd~August 6th
Where they will be: Their official schedule has not yet been decided but they will likely assist at the Korakukan theatre and Kosaka Mine Office.

These three students, currently studying at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies-- Japanese Language Centre, will spend part of their summer holidays in Kosaka. They will be staying with several homestay families during their stay.

 Raymond's and Rowan's Farewell/Welcome Party

When: Wednesday August 1st,
             18:00

Where: Sepamu 2F Main Hall
Cost: 3000 yen
Co-hosted by the town of Kosaka and Kosaka International Society

This party will be held to welcome Rowan, Kosaka's sixth Coordinator for International Relations and to send off Raymond, who has been Kosaka's CIR for the last three years. This year's French exchange student, as well as the three students from Tokyo University of Foreign Languages will also attend. We hope to see all KIS members out for this event!

This yearfs French Exchange Student

When: August 8th-31st (planned)
Workplace: MINETEC
Now looking for Homestays! This yearfs exchange student will be Jordan Beekman. He is sixteen years old and is currently a highschool student in Lille, France. His major of study is Biology and chemistry, and we hear that he plays the saxophone quite well. He will work at MINETEC while staying with various homestays.

We are currently trying to find homes in which he can stay (between seven and ten days). Interested parties are asked to call the KIS office at 0186-29-3908

 Events with JICA (Japan Overseas Cooperation Agency) sponsored group-training participants.

Once again kosaka will be welcoming JICA participants from all over the world.

We are planning a welcome party; flag painting in Chuo Koen; Japanese language classrom; International Cooking Classroom; cultural exchanges; host families; a farewell party and more!

Are you interested in becoming a host family or friend?

Due to program regulations, the participants must stay at their hotel, so you will not need to provide sleeping arrangements, all you have to do is enjoy going out for dinner, drives, etc. during their stay in Kosaka (August to November).

Halloween Party

Sat.  November 3rd lanned for the latter part of October, and there will be a big big big costume contest for the kids. Adults are encouraged to participate too! We also look forward to great costumes from ALTs and CIRs in the area.

Chinese Researchers' Hand Made Gyoza Making International Exchange Event

Date: Sunday 20th January,

Place: Sepamu, Cooking Class/Hall

Four Chinese Researchers are planning to stay at the Golden Place Hotel from October 21st to March 31st while training at Towada Audio.

KIS has planned a Gyoza Making Event where you can learn how to make Genuine Chinese Gyoza. Everyone is Welcome to participate, but so we can make preparations for the ingredients, please apply before Tuesday 15th January.

We are looking forward to a good turnout.

An Introduction to a Japanese Event with the JICA Participants

Date: 3rd February 2002
from 13:30
Location: Kosaka Golden Place Lobby
Fifteen JICA Participants will come to stay in Kosaka from January 31st to February 9th for a Training Course for Counterpart Personnel in Mine Development and Exploration. It is only a short stay but we are planning on doing a "bean throwing" event. While drinking tea you can have a talk to them.

Junior-Senior Student Overseas Trip

Planned for the end of March 2002. The aim of this trip is to broaden the minds of Junior and Senior Highschool students who are the future of this town. During this trip the students principally participate in a homestay, while studying English conversation and enjoying various activities. Through this trip they can see another countryfs history, culture, and way of life through their own eyes.
