Raymond's mother Sharon, who currently resides in Edmonton, Canada, came to Japan on May 22nd; after spending a couple of days in Tokyo, she arrived in Kosaka on May 24th. She stayed until June 12th, travelling as far away as Hokkaido, but she mostly stayed around town. She is a very easygoing person, did you say hello to her? | ||||

2 night homestay during the This summer, Japanese students from Akita, Aomori, and Iwate prefectures will join with highschool students from France, in Kosaka. They will be spending their summer holiday (Sunday July 30th to Sunday August 20th), exploring 'science' in unique and stimulating ways.

For the fourth year running, we will be hosting a french highschool student in Kosaka. While in Kosaka, they will work at MINETEC, the mining research centre. This year we are expecting a female first year university student. This will be a perfect opportunity for international exchange in your home. Won't you consider being a host family? | ||||
Once again, the JICA participants will be joining us in Kosaka. A BIG welcome party; flag painting in Central Park; Japanese Language classroom; International Cooking Classroom; Sports (planning an event with Kazuno city International Society); Cultural Exchange; Host Family and Host 'Friendship' programs; Farewell party, and other events are planned for this year's participants Looking for Host Families, Host Friends The participants are scheduled to be in Kosaka from August 14th to November 14th; we hope that the Host Families and Host Friends will become friends with their matched participants over the course of their stay. Going out for dinner; taking drives; etc. You can do whatever you like; however, due to JICA rules, the participants MUST stay at the Gold Palace Hotel during their course. Therefore, JICA participants are not allowed to stay overnight at your house; they must be back at the Gold Palace by 12:00 | ||||
Enjoy Kosaka wine & Grape juice (produced from local grapes) and an outdoor yakiniku BBQ. There are plenty of games and activities planned for the day. Loads of fun! | ||||
Price: About 170,000 - 190,000 yen. Participants must bear the entire cost of the trip (we are currently looking into subsidies from the Town)

This is one of our projects that is aimed directly at making the youth of Kosaka more "Internationally-conscious". This trip will be led by Kosaka's CIR, Raymond Matthias, and will concentrate on a homestay experience in Nanaimo, B.C. Canada. The students will study English and participate in other activities, all with the aim of having the students experience Canada 's history, culture and lifestyle for themselves. | ||||
