Recruiting Host Families and Friends

We are dividing the 21 Researchers into 10 groups, and so we are looking for 10 families, or groups of friends who would like to spend some time with the researchers. We would like to find groups who are willing to meet with their match at least three times.

Meeting for those interesting in becoming a Host Family / Host Friend

This will be an opportunity for those who are becoming Host Families for the first time, to talk to those who have had some experience in the past. Feel free to ask any questions, or voice any concerns.

Homestay Exchange Program: an Interview

This year marked the ninth year for the Homestay Exchange program. To reflect on the program, we invited Mr. Sato to talk about his experiences. Having participated 8 times, he has the highest record of participation.

This will be our opportunity to welcome the JICA to Kosaka. We will also introduce the JICA to their new Host Friends and Families. Regarding tickets, or any questions that you may have, please contact the KIS office.

Kunizakai Festival

Lake Towada

We will accompany the JICA to lake Towada, and enjoy the festival together. We are looking for volunteer guides and Interpreters; if you are interested, please call the KIS office.

Flag Painting

Where: Chuo Koen

This year, we have three new participant countries: Armenia, Central Africa, and Egypt. These three flags will be added to the wall, and Raymond (the new CIR) will paint the Canadian flag. The other researchers will sign their names below their country's flag. Come and join us for a fun morning; you're welcome to help with the painting!

The cooking class always goes over well with everyone. This year we will enjoy food from six different countries. Come and learn how to make a new dish!

At each meeting, researchers from two countries will talk about their country; please join us, it's both educational and entertaining.

This is the last event with the researchers. They won't be leaving until the next week, but this is likely your last chance to spend time with them. Everybody is welcome to come, and we would especially hope that all those who have made friends with the researchers will come and say goodbye.
